Why And How Was The Daschnaktsoution Revolutionary Party Founded

In 1639, the Persians and the Ottomans came to a common agreement to share Armenia.

Following this agreement, a big part of Armenia (the Occidental part) ended up into the hands of the Turks and the other part (the Oriental part) remained to the Persians (1). Because of this agreement, at the beginning of the 17th century, we see the formation of a Turkish Armenia and a Persian Armenia, finally, it was the sharing of Armenia between 2 Mohammedan States that were until this date, competing and fighting on Armenian grounds in order to get a bigger part of it. Not only our homeland had been destroyed because of these wars, the Turks and the Persians methodically massacred and plundered the Armenian masses and replaced them by Turks, Kurds and Tartars (2).

(1) The delimitation of the frontier started at the banks of the Akhour river, along the Araxe and ended at the Djagroch mountain chain.

(2) Chah Abbas, at the beginning of the 17th century, expelled the Armenians from the plains of Ararat and forced them into exile in Persia. .
