3177) Video: Mata Hari And The Armenians

Mata Hari - © This content Mirrored From http://armenians-1915.blogspot.com

What possible connection could Mata Hari, the free spirit widely believed to have been guilty of spying for Germany in WWI, have to Ottoman-Armenians, the ones whose descendants are religiously taught, with no regard for evidence, to have suffered from a genocide?

Bad and misinformed video.

1) In France, the historical truth about 1915-16 events is not outlawed. The censorship draft voted by few dozens of deputies in 2006 was not voted by Senate and will probably never voted. Bernard Lewis was sentenced in 1995 not because challenge of "genocide" claims but because he called "genocide" thesis the "Armenian version of this story". The article 1382 of French civil code (“every damage caused to somebody must be repaired by its author”) was used against him, but by several decisions, including in 2004 and 2005, the Cour de cassation (French Supreme Court) forbidden to use the article 1382 to limitate free speech, excepted for the libel against an economic activity.
The "Histoire de l'Empire ottoman" supervised by Prof. Robert Mantran is regularly reprinted since 1989 without problems despite his criticism of "genocide" label; the French translation of Bernard Lewis' "The Middle East: A Brief History of the Last 2000 Years" did not suppress the contra-genocide argumentation; "Minorités en Islam", by Prof. Xavier de Planhol, who barely implicitly rejects the "genocide" label, was published in 1997 without problems, too.
Even the (unconstitutional) law of “recognition” has just no effect, as demonstrated by my trial against Movsès Nissanian: nor Mr. Nissanian neither the Lyon’s tribunal used the “recognition” as an argument against me.

2) The death penalty was suppressed in 1981, both in war and peace time (Turkey suppressed death penalty in practice in 1984, in its law for peace time in 2001-2002, for war time in 2004).

3) That is right the Armenian Ottoman population was not subjected to a campaign of extermination (i.e. genocide), but several certified Armenian traitors were sentenced to death and hanged by Ottoman authorities, a decision perfectly understandable in World War I’s time.
