2872) Official Documentation Versus Prejudiced Rumors For Smyrna

© This content Mirrored From http://armenians-1915.blogspot.com Subject: www.nysun.com/arts/the-ruined-city-of-smyrna-giles-miltons-paradise/81963/

Dear Mr Adam Kirsch,

I read your above book review on Giles Milton's "Paradise Lost" dated July 2008, and must object to your paragraph "The real disaster came when Turkish forces set the city a blaze"... implying that . . Turks were stupid enough to burn a city they just reconquered!

Another review was published in the ABC radio station in Australia, to which I had responded here

This message aims to bring further clarification to the past postings as well, since they all referred to the same book..

I will be pleased if you will kindly refer to pages 629-630 of the book I wrote which is a free download There are ten (anti-Turkish) references given with their sources, which are more than enough to prove the huge distortion on this subject. I would be pleased if the book author or any other person could belie any of them (!) or otherwise admit the oversight!

Furthermore, I attach some pages from the book "American. - Turkish Claims Settlement" by Fred K. Nielsen,(U.S. Government Print Office 1937), which I just had the chance to read! I trust that you will find the contents clear, dependable, conclusive and judicially valid which bring additional reconfirmation to the references you can see in my book.

Under the circumstances, I hope that you may wish to put up another clarification article for reasons of decency, in the light of the "official documentation I have supplied", versus prejudiced rumors based on the memoirs of some of the Levantine families.

Your response and comments, shall be appreciated.
Yours cordially,
Sukru S. Aya
