494) Several hundreds of appeals from Armenia accumulated in European Court

If the Armenians know the right address for human rights why can't they take their alleged genocide claims there too?

Answer ; they know they will lose the case!! . . .

Strasburg, 9 January 2006 (Regnum) - In the European Court of Human Rights case of the ex-member of the opposition Republic Party Armen Mkrtchyan against the Republic of Armenia will be heard first of the appeals from Armenia. In his suit Mkrtchyan insists that he was imposed administrative sanctions for participating in a meeting. He was arrested and fined in accordance with the Armenian Administrative Code. As the Liberty radio station reports, the Armenian authorities referring to the Code, have imposed administrative punishment (down to 15 days arrest) on hundreds of people for participating in meetings that followed presidential elections of 2003.

The European Council has repeatedly urged Armenia to abandon its Administrative Code. From all the appeals from Armenia decision to consider it was taken only about the one by Mkrtchyan. Armenia’s spokesperson in the European Court Alvina Gyulumyan said the court has taken the case and will announce its verdict within this year.

Decision about taking the case is usually made by three of the judges of the European Court, after that the case goes to one of the four court’s chambers, with seven judges working in each. 70,000 untried cases are now in the European Court on Human Rights. The court residing in Strasburg can try not more than 4,000-5,000 cases per year. The number of suits from Armenia reaches several hundreds.
