The anti-semitism, it is well known, is the hatred of the Jews, a lamentable branch of racism. The Jews suffered much from it. But the Jewish lobby in the instrumentalise United States a little too this concept. Criticisms of this article which is the first to dare to say all that also clearly reached such a degree that the University of Harvard was forced to withdraw its logo and its support to him. Professor Walt resigns of his post of vice-chancellor. Now, it is with the turn of the Armenian lobby to create a similar situation in Utah. It could even better take than this history of “Jewish lobbyfication”.

L’antisémitisme, c’est bien connu, est la haine des juifs, une branche lamentable du racisme. Les juifs en ont beaucoup souffert. Mais le lobby juif aux Etats-Unis instrumentalise un peu trop ce concept. A la lettre c de la moindre critique à l’endroit de l’Etat d’Israël, il se jette sur son auteur en l’accusant d’antisémitisme. Il y a peu, j’ai vécu une telle situation.

Si vous me demandez d’où m’est venue l’idée d’y revenir, je vous dirai que je suis tombé sur une nouvelle parue dans le journal d’aujourd’hui : le plus grand groupe d’intellectuels britanniques avait pris la décision de boycotter les académiciens israéliens soutenant la politique discriminatoire d’Israël. Alors que cette décision faisait encore l’objet d’accusation d’antisémitisme, le secrétaire général de ce groupe de penseurs britanniques a déclaré : "critiquer Israël ne fait pas de moi un antisémite ; tout comme la critique de Bush et de Blair ne fait pas de moi un anti-anglo-saxon." Venons en donc à mon histoire. Il est un assez large groupe de diffusion sur Internet où Turcs et Arméniens majoritairement, échangent de points de vue. Il y a quelques temps, j’écrivis à peu près en ces termes, la chose suivante :

Avez-vous eu vent de ce qui est arrivé à l’éditeur ? Suite aux multiples protestations de la diaspora arménienne, le recteur de l’Université a ouvert une enquête ; au final, il s’avère que le livre a été diffusé dans le respect de toutes les règles légales. Mais l’éditeur considérant cette procédure du recteur comme une insulte, donne sa démission à compter du 30 juin 2006. Cela relève du nettoyage (non ethnique) et correspond à une " lobbyfication juive " des Arméniens."

Certains ont décrit n’avoir pas compris ce que j’avais voulu dire ; d’autres, que cette information était fausse. Certains ont avancé que j’insultais les Arméniens ; d’autres encore que je faisais de l’antisémitisme. Il y avait parmi eux des ressortissants turcs. Sur ce, j’ai répondu ceci en référence à l’information parue dans Radikal, le 30 mai dernier.

"Si vous parlez d’insulte, c’est que le fait juif représente à vos yeux quelque chose de mal. Si vous parlez d’antisémitisme, je me rends. Si vous dites n’y rien comprendre c’est que vous n’avez pas lu l’information parue deux semaines plus tôt : Le professeur Walt de Harvard et le professeur Mearsheimer de Chicago ont publié sur Internet un article de 83 pages qu’ils n’avaient pas pu faire paraître sur papier à cause des pressions exercées par le lobby juif. Ils soutenaient dans cet article en donnant nombre d’exemples que la politique étrangère des Etats-Unis avait été consacrée non aux intérêts nationaux mais à Israël depuis 40 ans et que cela conduisait la diplomatie américaine droit au gouffre ; qu’Israël est un obstacle dans la politique moyen-orientale de Washington ; et que par-dessus le marché, Israël figurait au premier rang des pays espionnant les Etats-Unis.

Les critiques de cet article qui est le premier à oser dire tout cela aussi clairement ont atteint un tel degré que l’Université d’Harvard a été contrainte de lui soustraire son logo et son soutien. Le professeur Walt démissionne de son poste de recteur. Maintenant, c’est au tour du lobby arménien de créer une situation similaire en Utah. Si jamais vous n’avez pas cru mon histoire, attendez donc le 30 juin. L’ingérence dans les travaux académiques dessert la cause arménienne et lui porte un coup terrible. Cette erreur, le lobby juif la commet sans cesse et, bien loin de servir la cause d’Israël, lui nuit profondément. C’est en cela que j’ai parlé de " lobbyfication juive ".

On ne discute plus de savoir combien le lobby israélien aux Etats-Unis nuit à Israël plutôt que de lui être utile. Parce qu’il a tant multiplié les actions contre les académiciens qu’aujourd’hui les universitaires américains en sont venus au point de ne plus pouvoir critiquer Israël. Il a fait taire les gens.

Toute chose qui tend à l’absurde vous prépare un effet boomerang. Les juifs américains ont poussé leurs actions jusqu’à l’absurde, ont usé leurs moyens de recours jusqu’à la corde. Au final, hormis quelques nationalistes juifs et une poignée d’honorables versificateurs persuadés que la critique d’Israël relève de l’antisémitisme, tout le monde a commencé à nourrir une certaine antipathie à l’endroit d’Israël. Peut-il y avoir chose plus préjudiciable à Israël ?

Si le lobby arménien suit la même route, s’il commence à vouloir faire taire des scientifiques, ne risque-t-il pas de souffrir, à terme, d’une similaire antipathie ? Attendez voir le 30 juin et cherchez à savoir si la cause arménienne sortira renforcée lorsque le responsable des éditions de l’Université de l’Utah aura annoncé sa démission.

Au coeur de la culture occidentale ne se tiennent ni la cause arménienne ni la cause juive ; mais bien les principes de la liberté d’expression et de la liberté académique.

La tendance est étrange. Alors que, sur ce sujet, la Turquie commence à se normaliser malgré le fait "d’élégants mais grossiers personnages" (il n’est qu’à voir les évènements survenus durant et autour de la conférence sur les Arméniens tenue en septembre 2005), ce sont les Etats démocratiques qui courent à la prohibition. Je lance encore une fois un appel à nos amis de la diaspora : le prohibitionnisme ne conduit qu’à un effet boomerang.

Si en Turquie nous sommes sur la bonne voie, il n’est personne pour nous l’accorder gracieusement ; nous en arrachons les avancées les unes après les autres. Et que nos honorables prohibitionnistes ne s’avisent pas de se frotter les mains en regardant ce qui se passe ailleurs, ou bien, la langue étant un organe des plus souples, je pourrais bien les servir d’une formule de mon cru : « la turquisation des Arméniens ». Elle pourrait même mieux prendre que cette histoire de « lobbyfication juive ».
