1160) Only After Problems Are Solved & Oskanian Expresses His Gratitude

The EU demands to close down the nuclear power station of Armenia. But the RA Government is ready to close it only in case of the presence of alternative sources of energy. The closing will cost 1 billion USD, whereas the EU offers only 100 million. What is the position of the EU about the construction of a new nuclear power station with 1000 megawatts of power? . . . . . Is the EU ready to support Armenia in its construction? Asked these questions, head of the European Committee delegation to Georgia and Armenia Torben Holce said that there are many problems connected with the construction of a new station.

“If the investigation shows that the plan is sensible and ecologically safe, then it’s possible. But there are many problems connected with ecology and nuclear wastes which must be investigated separately”, he said.
