Notes from the Editor: Armenian Issue: Historical Facts and Political Claims

Armenian issue has been one of the primary subjects of the Turkish foreign policy. Some countries have used this issue as a diplomatic weapon for many years. For example, the EU countries use it to reject the Turkey’s application to be a part of EU. In this respect, the Armenian issue has been a political issue without examining the historical facts. For example, the grand assemblies of more than 15 countries around the world ratify that there was a “genocide”, despite the fact that the historical materials do not support this claim.

In this first issue of the ISREF Perspective, we examine the Armenian issue from historical, political, and behavioral issue. Ali Ozdogan presents the translation of the Ottoman documents ordered the relocation of Armenians. Huseyin Ors, in his two essays, presents a detailed description analyses of the historical facts and political claims. Ali Ozdogan, in “Politics of the Armenian Issue”, emphasizes how politics overweighs the historical truths. In the “Turkish Lobby in the US”, Ozdogan presents the current state of the Turkish lobby, which is the primary tool of the Turkey against the Armenian claims in the Washington politics. Dr. Alican Dalkilic, in his article, sheds lights on the Armenian issue from the behavioral scientist point of view.
