Sirs,

Armenian Assembly of America Vs GERARD L. CAFESJIAN

Court judgment dated 26th January 2011 against AAA:

Can you confirm that the board members who wrongfully sued Mr Gerard Cafejian on behalf of the AAA have either retired or been booted out from the organisation?

As a result of the court's ruling given by Judge Kollar-Kotelly, a number of Board Members of the AAA was indicated by the judge to have acted in a disreputable manner in the course of giving evidence which was not deemed credible. The whole sorry affair involved protracted legal action between the AAA and Mr Cafejian, for which the AAA will have to pay substantial legal costs as Mr Cafejian was fully vindicated.

The AAA ousted from the board one of the most renowned Armenian benefactors in the world, who had provided about 14.5 million dollars including an historical landmark building in Washington close to the White House for use as the Armenian Genocide Museum.

The board members identified in the judgment through their actions and total lack of respect for such a benefactor as Mr Cafesjian have really destroyed the integrity of the Armenian Assembly of America in the eyes of the Armenian diaspora and the wider public.

Substantial funds and an important building in Washington were put at the disposal of the Armenian Assembly of America, but rather than thanking Mr Cafesjian for his generosity and heeding his good counsel, it sought to remove him from the board and kick him in the teeth with regard to the properties he had donated!

The Armenian Assembly of America needs to consider its position and whether it should not simply dissolve itself, because it is not doing any favours for the community which it is seeking to serve and for which it was established.

The only way it can continue to represent the interests of the Armenian people is for entirely new board members to be appointed whose first decision must be to issue an object public apology to Mr Cafejian in the hope of receiving his forgiveness and future cooperation.
