Millions Were Lost in Armenian Genocide, Saturday, February 8, 2014

The February 2 letter “Armenian Genocide Not Legally Founded” is completely irresponsible. The denial of the Armenian genocide by Turkish descendants is notorious. Turkey, as a nation, refuses to admit to the slaughter of the Armenians. They have been denying it since it happened in 1915.

Genocide is a very serious crime, well defined with needed evidences by the United Nations, and in particular after a special rapporteur was appointed in 2004 for any such claims. Below note verbale dated March 1,1920 by League of Nations General Secretary, already denies the involvement of the State, and belies genocide by the highest available authority: < Further, in Turkey, minorities were often oppressed and massacres carried out by irregular bands who were entirely outside the control of the central Turkish Government.>

So far, no nation or party has endeavored to procure the necessary verdict of an authorized International Tribunal to affirm the crime; they prefer to depend on rumor or hearsay produced for negative propaganda. They even do not observe the existing two resolutions, which do not accept genocide and which stand unproven despite much fanfare. . . .
