3783) The Attacks Perpetrated On January 8, 1977 In Moscow By Armenian Terrorists

by Maxime Gauin

Oleg Kuznetsof, The History of the Transnational Armenian Terrorism in the Twentieth Century , Berlin, Verlag Dr. Köster, 2016, p. 133 :

“In summary, on January 8, 1977, Zatikian, Bagdasarian and Stepanian [members of the United National Party of Armenia, an underground and terrorist organization] organize an explosion in the Moscow metro and detonate two homemade bombs in food stores from the center of Moscow. They had three more bombs ready to explode at the Kursk station (the tragedy was prevented by chance) and enough parts spare parts and explosives to make 17 additional bombs, i.e. 23 (!) “Infernal machines” in all. They have deliberately synchronized their crimes with the school holidays (when children from all parts of the country come to to see the New Year tree in the Kremlin) in the hope of causing damage not only to property, but also psychological.
. . .

The explosion at Kursk station was timed to coincide with the 60 th anniversary of the Great Socialist Revolution October, an important date in Soviet times accompanied by grandiose celebrations attended by senior officials from allied countries. You must not forget that at that time, Zatikian had already written his brochure Terrorism and terrorists who justified crimes of this kind. He and his pals were driven by ideology rather than enraged nationalism. "

The official report is seven dead.

Note that the diary of Jean-Marc "Ara" Toranian has unconditionally supported the three bombers (condemned to death and hanged), calling them "patriots", without a word for their victims :
