0039) Turks Argue: Will Truth Prevail?

Let's face it... the cards have been stacked against the Turks for the longest time. Armenians, Greeks and other Turk-haters have had carte blanche to spread their disinformation for many years, virtually unopposed... and helped along with their deep pockets, and the prevailing anti-Turkish prejudices of their fellow Christian Westerners. Since the early 1980s, the Turks (in America, at least)... after keeping silent in the belief that brotherhood is more important than harping on past ills (and also in the hopes of maintaining dignity, without sinking to the level of the shrillness of the Orthodox folks)... finally started telling their side of the story. (Not much choice, with those nutty Armenian terrorists slaughtering people left and right... thanks, Armenian terrorists!) It will be a long, uphill climb to undo all the propagandistic damage strongly in place... but will Truth ultimately prevail?

A Turk is Cynical

Dear M E Ozan,

I hate to tell you that your editorials on Armenian claims of Genocide will find no audience in the White House or elsewhere. Because once a rumour is out, people choose to believe it or not depending on their interests and not because if it is false or true. Following is one article written by an American which illustrates the point, the example of Saddam's Iraq. Would (or did ) Bush and his gang ever think that there may not be Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq? I am afraid when the time comes everyone including yourself take the wrong side if claims are coming
from the rich and/or the mighty as in the case of rich Armenian liars
of today's world. Judge for yourself if truth would matter in this case or not?

"Why truth matters"

By Nicholas D. Kristof

When I raised the Mystery of the Missing W.M.D. recently, hawks fired barrages of reproachful e-mail at me. The gist was: "You *&#*! Who cares if we never find weapons of mass destruction, because we've liberated the Iraqi people from a murderous tyrant."

But it does matter, enormously, for American credibility. After all, as Ari Fleischer said on April 10 about W.M.D.: "That is what this war was about."

I rejoice in the newfound freedoms in Iraq. But there are indications that the U.S. government souped up intelligence, leaned on spooks to change their conclusions and concealed contrary information to deceive people at home and around the world.

Let's fervently hope that tomorrow we find an Iraqi superdome filled with 500 tons of mustard gas and nerve gas, 25,000 liters of anthrax, 38,000 liters of botulinum toxin, 29,984 prohibited munitions capable of delivering chemical agents, several dozen Scud missiles, gas centrifuges to enrich uranium, 18 mobile biological warfare factories, long-range unmanned aerial vehicles to dispense anthrax, and proof of close ties with Al Qaeda. Those are the things that President Bush or his aides suggested
Iraq might have, and I don't want to believe that top administration
officials tried to win support for the war with a campaign of wholesale deceit.

Consider the now-disproved claims by President Bush and Colin Powell that Iraq tried to buy uranium from Niger so it could build nuclear weapons. As Seymour Hersh noted in The New Yorker, the claims were based on documents that had been forged so amateurishly that they should never have been taken seriously.

I'm told by a person involved in the Niger caper that more than a year ago the vice president's office asked for an investigation of the uranium deal, so a former U.S. ambassador to Africa was dispatched to Niger. In February 2002, according to someone present at the meetings, that envoy reported to the C.I.A. and State Department that the information was unequivocally wrong and that the documents had been forged.

The envoy reported, for example, that a Niger minister whose signature was on one of the documents had in fact been out of office for more than a decade. In addition, the Niger mining program was structured so that the uranium diversion had been impossible. The envoy's debunking of the forgery was passed around the administration and seemed to be accepted - except that President Bush and the State Department kept citing it
anyway.

"It's disingenuous for the State Department people to say they were bamboozled because they knew about this for a year," one insider said.

Another example is the abuse of intelligence from Hussein Kamel, a son-in-law of Saddam Hussein and head of Iraq's biological weapons program until his defection in 1995. Top British and American officials kept citing information from Mr. Kamel as evidence of a huge secret Iraqi program, even though Mr. Kamel had actually emphasized that Iraq had mostly given up its W.M.D. program in the early 1990's. Glen Rangwala, a
British Iraq expert, says the transcript of Mr. Kamel's debriefing was leaked because insiders resented the way politicians were misleading the public.

Patrick Lang, a former head of Middle Eastern affairs in the Defense Intelligence Agency, says that he hears from those still in the intelligence world that when experts wrote reports that were skeptical about Iraq's W.M.D., "they were encouraged to think it over again."

"In this administration, the pressure to get product `right' is coming out of O.S.D. [the Office of the Secretary of Defense]," Mr. Lang said. He added that intelligence experts had cautioned that Iraqis would not necessarily line up to cheer U.S. troops and that the Shiite clergy could be a problem. "The guys who tried to tell them that came to understand that this advice was not welcome," he said.

"The intelligence that our officials was given regarding W.M.D. was either defective or manipulated," Senator Jeff Bingaman of New Mexico noted. Another senator is even more blunt and, sadly, exactly right: "Intelligence was manipulated."

The C.I.A. was terribly damaged when William Casey, its director in the Reagan era, manipulated intelligence to exaggerate the Soviet threat in Central America to whip up support for Ronald Reagan's policies. Now something is again rotten in the state of Spookdom.

Another Turk Believes... the Truth Will Set You Free!

Does truth matter? : Yes, it does.

I too have a few words for Mr. Celebi !

What you are saying; We should do nothing? Right? That is exactly what Ankara is doing anyway. So, don't you worry about us and the likes of Mahmut bey, we know what we are doing. It is just that we have not been able to convince you.

The Greeks and the Armenians are big liars, and treat everybody,
including themselves, as idiots. As idiots, they usually end up paying a heavy price for their idiotic ideals and actions. In short, as we say in Turkish, "HAYIR CIKARMAZLAR". Am I wrong ?

I worked with a Jewish businessman for 22 years. He used to tell me, "I don't like people who are too clever". This applies to nations too. Those who are to clever, end up hurting their friends and themselves.

We are not going to change the truth just because, the Armenians and the Greeks want it that way. The truth is the truth, and even Bush and Rumsfeld could not change it either. The American people know what a criminal bunch they are, and that is enough for me. One day, just like the Armenians, they will pay for their sins. Yes, the truth does matter a lot.

Holdwater Opines

It's easy to be cynical about this subject... the Armenians hold the upper hand, as it is ingrained in the Western mind that if Turks are accused of a misdeed or crime, they must automatically be guilty. Even the "intellectuals" of (American) society, such as the latter day Franz Werfels that constitute the likes of Norman Mailer, Kurt Vonnegut, John Updike, Susan Sontag... who harm their valuable reputations simply because they are too lazy to investigate all sides of the story... are quick to be hoodwinked by the Armenian claims.

The Turks are also at a loss, because few Turks bother to educate themselves on this distasteful topic. Many just "know" the Armenians (and the Greeks) are not on the up and up, but are too lazy or apathetic to do much about it. Compare with the Orthodox folks, who exhibit a single-minded fanaticism, when it comes to squelching anything even remotely pro-Turkish, driven by their irrational hatred of all things Turkish.

However, this charade cannot be kept up forever. It will take a long time still, but one day... the Armenian Con Job will be exposed for the deception it has masterfully been portrayed to be. At that point, just as Admiral Mark Bristol who had no love for Turks but was appalled when he discovered he had been misled by the darling Greeks and Armenians of the West... people of integrity will become very, very angry at how the "Genocide" lie (and other anti-Turkish lies, such as Cyprus) have been perpetuated, virtually unopposed, for such a LONG time. Then the tables will turn, and the Greeks and Armenians will endure for years, trying to recover their tarnished reputations. (Although it won't be too bad for the Greeks and Armenians. People have known for centuries, for example, to "beware of Greeks bearing gifts," but they just find Greeks so adorable, regardless.)

This was a driving force for me to create this web site... truth-tellers will now have a convenient one-stop service to fortify their arguments with. Remember... it's not "propaganda" when Turks tell their side of the story. It's the Truth — and the Truth SHALL prevail.

"THE TURKISH-AMERICAN COMMUNITY MUST WAKE UP FROM THEIR SLUMBER"

Judge Sam Weems, in his impassioned plea to get lazy-assed Turks to "WAKE UP"... in his essay entitled, AND JUST WHERE IN THE WORLD ARE THE TURKS?... where he also wrote:

"I am stupefied, and I am wondering where in the world are the Turks? What is the Turkish government doing? Where in heaven's name is the Turkish Foreign Service? No one seems to be doing a darn thing in defending truth and the Turkish interest.
...

If a non-Turk American, like me, can research and find such unbelievable data so destructive for the Turks' and Turkey's vital interests, I ask myself why in the world don't the Turks..?"

(Holdwater: "What is the Turkish government doing?" Why, Judge Weems, you know what the Armenians "thought" the Turkish government was doing.... the Turkish government was stuffing your pockets, along with everyone else's who dares deviate from their version of the falsified genocide...)

"Defeat the lies with the truth"

Professor Justin McCarthy
"Truthful history is enough"

The reason so many Americans believe this Armenian tall tale is because the Turks have ignored these false claims for all these years and no one has stood up to tell the truth about the bogus genocide claim. There is an old political saying in America: "If you tell a lie big enough and often enough and no one challenges you — a great number of people will believe the lie no matter how big it is" This is what the Armenians have been doing since 1918 and the Turks have not come to America and disproved it.

Thank you, Sam Weems... for being
such a rare and much-needed friend.

I know a few Turkish Americans who are true champions for Turkey. Sad truth is that they are too few and they have little funding to compete against a well-oiled and funded Armenian lobby organization. The Armenians have perhaps 40-50 full time professionals in Washington DC doing nothing but working each and every day to undercut Turkey and Azerbaijan and promote themselves for more foreign aid taxpayer funding.
Turkish Americans have -0- staff and office working for them in Washington DC. The Turks really should do more to protect themselves. All they have to do is tell truth! Here is an eye-opening calculation for you:

Armenians, in the last 10 years, have probably spent about 14 million
dollars to support all the political candidates that they did. When those candidates got elected, Armenia got 1.4 billion dollars in the same 10 years as US Foreign Aid. That is, for every one dollar Armenian Americans "invested", they got $100 back in US Aid to Armenia! 100 to 1 return! This is a better return than Las Vegas casinos! (smiles) Wake up Turkish Americans! Get involved!

Judge Sam Weems

How are Turks ever going to correct the damage that's been done by the Armenian Propoganda .Turkey sat back and watched the rest of the world accept the "armenianGenocide".Now we want to do something? The Resolution is going to be introduced again early next year and it will pass next time, unless something drastic happens as in,Turkey and Armenia coming together for a joint review of the archives, with Historians from both sides and on neutral ground. But I doubt if Armenia will agree because the results will be devestating to them , so since that won't be happening(i'm sure there are ways for the U.S to get Armenia to agree but..)Turkey,pretty much is ruined. After the Genocide verdict is in,Turkey will have to pay..alot for compensation for 'victoms sufferings" and then eventually Armenians will want territory, you know, their 'homeland?' And then we will have a new Republic of Armenia,in Turkey. How lovely would that be. And we have noone but ourselves to blame!
