The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. has a controversial wall with a bogus quote emblazoned on it. That quote, supposedly uttered by Adolf Hitler in 1939, was proven to be a hoax fabricated by an over-zealous reporter, Louis Lochner, the Associated Press Berlin Bureau chief.
Lochner was a devout supporter of the Armenian cause for decades prior.
Thanks to the meticulous research by Dr. Arnold Reisman, a Jewish Holocaust child survivor himself, we now know that Lochner was the crook who slipped this abhorrent lie in 1945 into the Nuremberg court papers.
And thanks to the vigilance of the US prosecutors, it was never used in the court proceedings. But this virulent lie took on its own life anyway and it is still with us today.
Thus, American school children are exposed to a poisonous falsehood systematically at each visit to that otherwise respectable museum funded by our hard-earned tax dollars. . . .

The second wave was active during 1920-1922 period perpetrated by the group named “Operation Nemesis.”
The third Armenian terror wave started in 1973 continued until 1986 with actors like JCAG, ASALA and their splinters.
The fourth terror wave is what we are experiencing today since 1987.
Armenian terrorism nowadays rears its ugly head in all walks of life, even in academia.
It seems to have morphed into “ network of “sleeper cells” which sometimes boast an Armenian community leader appearing in photo-ops with even a U.S. president (Topalian.) . . .

►From The New York Times to Wikipedia and from academicians to politicians, everyone claims that the 24th of April 1915 is the start of the alleged Armenian genocide. That day, the Turkish government arrested, tortured and executed several hundred Armenian intellectuals. Was it really like that? I will now quote an Armenian who was in that group of arrested Armenian leaders. He witnessed firsthand what transpired on April 24th, 1915 and how it ended. His letter was published in The Armenian Mirror-Spectator, on Saturday, October 17, 1959.

His letter to the editor is titled “The Shock of Komitas.” I quote just one paragraph from it: “There never were any massacres of Armenians in Changiri while we were there for several months.
(Komitas Vartabed) was returned to Ankara by… carriage and thence to Istanbul by train. I was in the same group.
All these details are among my "Memoirs" published in English (the Mirror Spectator) and other Armenian papers.”
So here it is, directly from the horse’s mouth: No beating, no stoning, no torture, no killings…
Will the dishonest and racist Armenian lobby issue and apology now for lying to public for a century. . . .

The ECHR’s Grand Chamber ruled that Armenian genocide is an opinion, not a court verdict, as such it can be rejected and that would be an exercise of the human right to freedom of speech. Thus, it was determined by the highest court in Europe that refuting and disproving the alleged Armenian genocide was not a hate speech, as the deceptive Armenian lobby likes to claim, but it was mere free speech. My friend, Franz Werfel, of Vienna, Austria, a writer, wrote a book entitled THE 40 DAYS AT MUSSA DAGH, a history of the massacre of Armenians by the Ottoman Turks. The story was told him by his friend, the Armenian Bishop of Vienna and Werfel never doubted the Bishop's account. He did not investigate what he wrote.

Years later, when the true facts about Musa Dagh were established by the research of neutral investigators - which was never denied by the Armenians - Werfel discovered that he had been duped by his friend, the Bishop, with a concocted story. Werfel confessed to me his shame and remorse for having written that story, in which he had blamed the Ottomans as the aggressors and terrorists.

Abstract:

This book represents a meticulous exploration of the ethno-religious, geo-strategic, political, social and economic dimensions of a tragic event in history, which is still little understood [1] 1and much misrepresented [2]. Güçlü studied the archives of five countries (the Ottoman Empire, the Republic of Turkey, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States), mostly primary and secondary sources, before masterfully piecing together this massive historical puzzle. Armenian sources are notably missing, because, as Güçlü explains here and elsewhere, access to Armenian state, lay, and religious archives is still restricted to those who adhere to the official Armenian narrative [3]. Güçlü enlightens the readers by delivering a comprehensive before-during-after look at the region and the event. Readers will be enriched by reading this book to realize that biased and furious descriptions of Adana events of 1909 [4], that are popularly accepted without much fact-checking or critical thinking, may be unfair, inaccurate, even unethical.

In “Outlawing Genocide Denial: The Dilemmas of Official Historical Truth” (University of Utah Press) historian and political scientist Guenter Lewy scrutinizes the practice of criminalizing the expression of unpopular, even odious historical interpretations, exemplified by genocide denial. Holocaust denial can be viewed as another form of hatred against the Jews and preventing it can be understood as a form of warding off hate speech. Germany has made it a crime punishable by law. Other European countries have similar laws. While the rationale for such laws seems reasonable, Lewy asks us to carefully consider the dangers that these laws could present. His discussion neither dismisses the ramifications of genocide denial nor justifies it: he instead looks closely at the possible risks of government-enforced interpretations of history. He says that allowing governments to dictate historical truth and how events should be interpreted can be counterproductive in democratic societies which value freedom of speech . . .

I cannot believe it has been six years already: “How time flies!” ( I apologize for resorting to a cliché at a momentous time like this but this one really could not be helped.)

It was only five years ago to the day that I wrote about the first happy birthday of this remarkable website, bent on changing age-old prejudice via simple education, deep-running hostility via genuine kindness, and blind hate via solid facts, courageous exposure, and plain compassion.

In six short years, this site, a website created by a small group of devoted individuals , Armenians-1915.blogspot.com , has managed to become the largest single source of articles, books, films, and other information on the history of the Turkish-Armenian conflict of World War One as well as Turkish-Armenian relations today. That is no small feat no matter how one slices it.

My warm wishes and heartfelt congratulations go to Lara Kaplan, Seda Goulizar, and Murat Urguplu for their vision, enthusiasm, dedication, and hard work. I must say they have done a lot, if not the most, for leveling the playing field for all Turks by bringing to the attention of the world little known, much ignored, and/or deliberately dismissed out of sheer bias the flip side of this controversial issue.

Just how little known? . .

Well, I devised a little test using Google back on July 31, 2006, asking some questions, and I have repeated those same questions today, July 31, 2011, exactly 5 years later to the date, to determine where we are on these issues:

• Genocide: If you did a Google search on the word "genocide", you got 43.6 million entries in 2006 and 43.0 million in 2011.
  
  Since we know there has been many more articles written in the past five years—I alone wrote more than a thousand—I consider this Google result to be an aberration, perhaps showing Google’s limitations. Nevertheless, for lack of a better figure, please keep that 43 million figure in mind.


• Armenian Genocide: If you added the word "Armenian" before “genocide”, the number of entries dropped to 2.36 million in 2006 and 4.96 million in 2011.
  
  So the work on the alleged Armenian Genocide clearly more than doubled in 5 years. This is a simple but significant finding, perhaps proving my point that while the Armenians used to see the alleged genocide as “raison d’etre” ( psychological reason for existence,) they now turned it into a industry that actually feeds them with book and film sales, panels, exhibits, monuments, churches, donations, gifts, and more (i.e. physical reason for existence.)


• Alleged Armenian Genocide: If you further added the word "alleged" to the front of “Armenian genocide”, the number of entries dwindled to 163,000 entries in 2006 and 450,000 in 2011.
  
  It may be reasonably assumed that the word "alleged" is used in response to the Armenian claims and, therefore, probably reflects the opposing views if not also Turkish performance on this issue. The above Google data, spread over five years, with all of their faults, duplications, suppositions, and other shortcomings, still manage to tell us a bundle about how the Armenians have managed to transform an inter-communal warfare fueled by religious bias, nationalist fervor, and international designs, fought mostly by irregulars during a raging World War into a one-way, black-n-white genocide and how weak the Turkish response has been. If there is one good thing to say about Turkish performance here, it is that the amount of literature put out on this matter in the last five years surpassed that of the entire 1915-2006 period—I ought to know as I wrote a thousand of them since 2006 myself…)

Ethocide: If you keyed in the term "Ethocide" –which I had coined in 2003, my humble gift to the English language, in frustration caused by the incredibly biased and lopsided coverage of the Turkish-Armenian issue in media— the number of entries was 440 in 2006 which jumped to 3,360 in 2011, an impressive 660% increase!

Since this is the single word (meaning systematic extermination of ethics via mass deception for political and other gain) future generations of Turkish Americans will use to casually refute on their happy way to their high school’s prom the baseless Armenian allegations of genocide, this growth in the use of this new term is noteworthy.

Here is more food for thought:

• Armenia is still cultivating hate and vengeance: Assuming the above Google figures are correct, then a significant part of the general genocide literature (i.e. more than 11%) seems to have been generated by the Armenians and their allies. Not bad for a land-locked, poverty-stricken, violence-ridden, war-mongering, corrupt and tiny dictatorship with about 2 million inhabitants whose major exports are illegal aliens, organized fraud, violent gangs, international terrorism, military aggression, and ethnic cleansing, and whose major imports are Diaspora handouts, US Foreign Aid, Russian weapons, and embargoed Turkish consumer goods.


• Turks respond more, but still not in sufficient numbers: There is a slight increase on the Turkish responses from 6.9% in 2006 to 9.1% in 2011, if one assumes that Turkish entries are mostly in response to Armenian entries. While this small improvement is welcome, it is not sufficient for a great country of 75 million who enjoy the 16th largest economy in the world with a landmass larger than California and Texas, surrounded by four picturesque seas, four wonderful seasons, endowed with a generous array of natural resources, has been home to 29 past civilizations, and bursting at the seams with universities and colleges.

Positive Approach To The Turkish-Armenian Relations

Norwegian Tragedy : I would be remiss if I did not cover a positive approach to the Turkish-Armenian Relations. The Norwegian Tragedy of July 22, 2011, perpetrated by a blond and blue-eyed Christian terrorist, must have given every decent person in the world a rude awakening as its scope, depth, and reach single-handedly managed to turn upside down all conventional wisdom, centuries of bias and bigotry. It showed one and all that one way thinking in terms of “us-versus-them” does not work, never did, never will. Now, even the New York Times, the citadel of bias and bigotry in America, can start licking its wounds, especially after being exposed for its perhaps biggest blunder when it jumped the gun with who might be behind the Norwegian tragedy (you guessed it, the NYT pointed to Islamic groups and based their judgment on the “learned” advice of a so called “expert”.)

“Experts” are not immune to mistakes: We know about those “experts” whose ideas and reports filled the pages of NYT with pure anti-Turkish propaganda during WWI. We know other “experts” who still shamelessly promote a bogus genocide.

That said, I want the Norwegian tragedy to be turning point in the Turkish-Armenian conflict and hope that even the most prejudiced writers at NYT can now see the inevitable: Armenian agitation, propaganda, raids, bombings, feuds, ambushes, assassinations, revolts, treason, pogroms, territorial demands, and many Turkish victims killed by Armenians, all had something to do with the tragedy that befell the Armenians. It was not Turks, who after a millennium of harmonious cohabitation in Anatolia with Armenians , one morning, woke up with the crazy decision to kill all Armenians. This whole thing brew over a half century (1862-1915) and intensified over the last quarter (1890-1915.) If Armenians in most of Anatolia did not take up arms against their own government, state, and people, they would still be living in Turkey, just like the Armenians in Istanbul who stayed loyal to their country (which is one more reason why this is not genocide.)

Verbal Tragedy Perpetrated by Sargsyan: As if the Norwegian tragedy was not enough, another tragedy of a verbal kind took place in Armenia. What the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan reportedly said on July 25, 2011 in response to a question from a young participant of the Armenian language and literature contest, may be the reason why Turkey-Armenia protocols never progressed since the day they were signed about two years ago. The youth asked if Armenians will ever get Western Armenia and Mount Agri (Ararat for Armenians) back from Turks. Sargsyan responded that it would depend on the young participant’s generation and that Sargsyan’s generation already had done its part by getting (Karabakh) from the enemy (Azerbaijan) ! He added that every generation had its calling and that his generation responded well to his generation’s calling by taking Karabakh. In other words, he is suggesting to the youth to take back by force a piece of neighboring sovereign country, Turkey. This is happening today, not in 1915, ladies and gentlemen! And this is the psyche of the highest political leader in Armenia, not just some Joe Schmuckian in Glendale… Of course, the Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan and Foreign Minister Davutoglu came right back with disappointments, regrets, and sadness and condemned Sargsyan for promoting hate, vengeance, violence and terrorism. Can you blame the Turks?

Commission of historians: Having pointed out that extremism, violence, threats, deception, propaganda, and posturing never worked in the past hundred years in providing a fair and lasting solution to international problems, I really truly believe that exposing the facts is the only way to peace. If we can manage to establish a commission of historians, not henchmen out to settle a score or partisan scholars our for glory and gold, but true, non-partisan, dis-interested scholars, of Turkish and Armenian and other nationalities, open up all the archives, pry this controversy away from the dirty hands of Diaspora crooks in Glendale and Boston, and handlers Washington DC and elsewhere, then we stand a chance of reaching eventual peace, even if it comes in painfully slow steps at first.

Today, we cannot even agree on the numbers who lived, got temporarily resettled, got killed in the process or perished due to wartime conditions. Ladies and gentlemen, you cannot have 1.5 million Armenians dying when the entire population was 1.3 million. So, please stop this masquerade already! It doesn’t work! Never did! Never will!

You cannot report “…more than 200,000 Armenians killed…” in March 29, 1919 to Paris Peace Conference; state “600,000 Armenians killed” on an aid poster in America only two months later (May 1919) ; increase it to 800,000 in NYT the next year, claim a million in 1970s; a 1.5 in 1980s; 2 million in 1990s; 2.5 even 3 million in 2000s; and expect people to believe you. Dead do not multiply! Never did! Never will! You must start telling the truth: about 300,000 losses mostly by wartime conditions (epidemics, starvations, shortages, and more, very few by bullets… Really! ) And do not forget to add half a million Muslims, mostly Turks, met their tragic ends at the hands of Armenian nationalists under Russian, French, British, and Greek uniforms and no uniform at all. When you state the facts, the term “Armenian genocide” automatically becomes an oxymoron.

You cannot make some inconveniences vanish into thin air, such as Armenian propaganda, agitation, terror in that order from 1882-1920; Armenian revolts from 1862 to 1920; Armenian treason from 1821-1921; Armenian territorial demands to establish the first apartheid of the 20th Century; Turkish victims at Armenian hands; Turco-phobia; Islamo-phobia, and more… (While at it, please read the letters of Boghos Noubar, head of one of the two Armenian delegations to Paris Peace Conference, and the 1923 Manifesto by Hovhannes Katchaznouni to see that it was war provoked, waged, and prolonged by Armenian nationalists and that the Turks were only defending their home.)

You cannot go on with deception: fake Talat telegrams, bogus Hitler quote, doctored Vereshagin painting of pyramid of skulls, fabricated Mustafa Kemal newspaper interview, distorted Mustafa Kemal photos where puppies were replaced with dead children, fake photo featuring an alleged Ottoman official tainting starving alleged Armenian children ; and hundreds more. You cannot build solemn memory on lies and deceptions…Stop this senseless fraud!

You cannot continue with "social reconstruction", a term used by sociologists to describe rebuilding memory based on current social acts and sympathies, not history's facts. If Armenia wants to put an end to its isolation, poverty, corruption, and violence, then Armenia must stop the military occupation of Azerbaijani lands and allow about a million Azeri refugees to return to their homes in occupied lands (Karabagh and the seven regions around it.) And if Armenia wants to share in the peace and prosperity Turkey is building via its "zero problems with neighbors" policy, then Armenia should learn what is meant by "just memory". Just memory respects the suffering of all sides, not just that of the Armenians and acknowledges Armenian complicity and responsibility in all that suffering.

I know all of this is a big leap for Armenia, which is why I am suggesting a very small step, one that is already included in the frozen protocols of October 12, 2009: establishment of a commission of historians and opening of the Armenian archives (all of them, including the ones in Erevan, Etchmiadzin, Beirut, Jerusalem, Mekhitarist Church, Boston, Glendale, and elsewhere.)

Until the facts are established, which may take decades, we can rebuild those millennium-old friendships all over again... Let the facts speak for all of us. Then we can achieve fair and lasting peace… No more deceptions, terrorism, or aggression.

May love and peace win over hate and war one day…

Dear Lady Flather,

The London Turks showed me your letter on the Armenian issue. I’m a historian of the First World War, familiar with the background, and please will you reconsider.

Your first port of call should just be the Foreign Office, and please remember that the British, in occupation of Constantinople, found no proofs of genocide and had to release the Turks whom they were holding (on Malta). There were massacres, yes, but you might also bear in mind that the Ottoman government itself put fifty-odd of its people on trial and executed a governor.

If a member of say the French Senate accused the Sikhs or the Hindus of genocide in the Punjab in 1947 I imagineyou might hit the roof, and rightly. There are some very serious books about all of this, and I cannot think why politicians think they need to opine one way or the other.

I learned that at House of Lords you have recently proposed recognition of so-called Armenian genocide which depends on forgeries, falsified documents and lies which were confirmed by the English authorities, your ancestors themselves, depending on archival documents including those from the American archives.

After the Ottoman State was defeated in the 1st World War in 1918, the English, your ancestors and their allies arrested 144 high level Ottoman veteran or civil officials including the ex-prime ministers, ex-deputies, governors and many newspapermen, and banished them to Malta Island, claiming that they were responsibles for the death of Armenians.

However, the English authorities, your ancestors, had to make them all free in 1921, since they could not find any proof to be able to verdict them.

Please note that the Ottoman government had been taken prisoners by your ancestors and all the Ottoman archives had been under control of your ancestors and cynically an Armenian official was assigned to the Ottoman Archives.

Also note that YOUR FAMOUS BLUE BOOK, the telegrams of Aram Andonian and the diary of Ambassador Morgenthau which are proposed as supporters of the present Armenian thesis even now, had already been published at that time.

Please also note that during the trial in Berlin of the Armenian assassin Soghomon Tehlirian, who had murdered Talat Pasha in Berlin on March 15th, 1921, none of the Andonian documents were accepted by the court as evidence (Dashnakists’ book Justicier du Genocide, 1981, p.213)

Therefore, you personally should have found a new and reliable proof of a genocide which could not be found by no means by your ancestors and their allies themselves just at the time of these events.

I invite you to display these new evidences. I cordially believe that these evidences will make a real contribution to the scholarship of history.

Dear Baroness Flather,

Your letter attached above to Betula Nelson prompted me to write this letter to you on a matter with which you are quite familiar, I assume; namely, the Armenian issue. The purpose of my letter is not to argue per se, but to have a conversation with you from a humanitarian point of view (since I believe you are one of the Vice Chairs of the All-Party Parliamentary Humanist Group) as to how it is that looking at the same events, two reasonable people can come to such different conclusions about the tragic human events that took place in the Ottoman Empire during the latter part of the nineteenth century leading up to and beyond First World War, WW I. I would like to learn from you as to what I am missing in looking at the whys and wherefores of these events. I should hasten to add that if it gets a bit too complicated to communicate through pecking on a keyboard rather than talking to each other face to face, I am willing to travel from New York to London to visit with you at your convenience. You might consider this as a naïve request on my part, but I am sincere. For, I respect you for what you have done in your life’s work and look up to you as an influential person whose guidance I need to come to terms with whatever real facts and logic may lead us to.

As for myself, I am an American citizen of Turkish origin who has been living in the United States for more than half-a-century. I have been following the Armenian issues for all those years and I could say that I am quite familiar with the issues involved.

If I may, let me start with the big picture rather than getting tangled up in the details. Can we perhaps first agree with the following historical markers, namely, that:

the Ottoman Empire was one of the largest and longest lasting Empires in history;

the recipe for its success was many fold, primarily among them:

a meritorious power system irrespective of ethnicity (race, color or creed);

an administrative policy of “live and let live.” For more, please see:

Armenians (and many other ethnic groups) lived as loyal subjects of the Ottoman Empire for more than 600 years;

the early American Calvinists in mid-nineteenth century believed that “the Ottoman Empire soon would be cast down, the Jews would return to Palestine to become Christians, and the Reign of Christ was at hand based on faith in their interpretation of the Book of Revelation,” and that accordingly “their mission became to convert Muslims, Jews directly at first, [but having failed on that] the conversion of Christian Greeks, Armenians and other Middle Eastern Christians through the Reformation” (from Justin McCarthy, The Turk in America- The Creation of an Enduring Prejudice, the University of Utah Press, Salt Lake City, 2010, pp. 2-5);
encouraged by the West, the Dashnak Armenians tried to carve out an Armenia in an area of the Eastern Anatolia with a minority Armenian population of about 10%;

and in the process, Dashnaks terrorized not only the Turks and Kurds, but even killed their own kin surreptitiously to make them rise up against the Ottoman government ;

while the Young Turk administration of the Ottoman government offered the Armenians autonomy and they accepted it on the face of it, but behind the scenes;

Armenians conspired with the invading Russians to turn against their own Ottoman comrades in arms in the trenches instead of fighting the invaders;

and, as a last resort, the Young Turks ordered the relocation of the trouble maker Armenians away from the battle fields to distant parts of the Ottoman Empire, namely, Syria, while at the same time providing rail transportation to those who could afford it, and giving strict orders to the gendarmes to protect all who unfortunately had to walk hundreds of miles to their destination;

and also unfortunately, in the ensuing mayhem, thousands of innocent victims died of famine, disease and atrocities along the way;

at the same time, as many, if not more, Turks and Kurds were killed by the Armenians through their terrorism and rebellious acts dating back to late 19th century, as well as due to famine, disease and marauding that was rampant at the time of WWI.
I tried to make this listing as short as possible to start a discourse. I would be very glad to expand upon any one of the items if so desired. I would much appreciate if you could kindly let me know if there are any disagreements in the outline above and if so, which ones.

Finally, just a very quick and humble response to your letter to Betula Nelson:

1. There are just as many horrifying pictures depicting the deadly suffering on both sides. However, it has been shown many times over that what the Armenians have been unashamedly advertising for so many years have been proven to be fabrications galore. Please see attachment “Skulls,” for example.

2. As to what Hitler is reported to have said, that also has been shown to be another fabrication. Please see attachment on “Hitler.” Also, you may wish to see other brochures at www.cptstrs.org .

3. My heart goes out to those people and their families hanging from wooden posts that you mention. My heart also goes out to people who were locked in their mosques from the outside on prayer day, Fridays, and set on fire, and many more.

As a human being, I too do not want those terrible events (like many others around the world even now, for that matter,) to be allowed to happen again. I do much appreciate your stance as well, given your involvement with Humanist groups. However, we must be cognizant of how the historical “facts” are sometimes distorted, forged and fabricated. As a great historian of the Middle East , Bernard Lewis once said referring to the then atrocities:

“. . . to make this a parallel with the holocaust in Germany you would have to assume that the Jews in Germany had been engaged in armed rebellion against the German state, collaborating with the Allies against Germany, that in the deportation order the cities of Hamburg and Berlin were exempted, the persons in the employment of the state were exempted, and their deportation only applied to the Jews of Germany proper and when they got to the pogroms they were welcomed into shelters by the Polish Jews. That seems to be an absurd parallel.”

Let us also remember what president Shimon Peres of Israel has said:

“We reject attempts to create a similarity between the Holocaust and the Armenian allegations. Nothing similar to the Holocaust occurred. It is a tragedy what the Armenians went through but not a genocide.”

Of course Turks also went through a similar tragedy. But Turks must also be blamed for the distortion of history in front of their eyes as they did not respond to all these allegations for so many years. As C. F. Dixon-Johnson, British author of the 1916 book, The Armenians, appalled over the deceitful practice of his book’s subject, said then:

“Give a lie twenty-four hours start, and it will take a hundred years to overtake it.”

However, rest assured that there is a lively discussion going on in Turkey now, and that the 73 million Turks (minus a few including the likes of Taner Akçam, Fatma Gökçe, etc.) must be shown the undeniable documentation before they will accept the allegation of genocide against a people with whom they lived many years more in peace and harmony than fighting. You see, the diaspora Armenians- unlike the Armenians of Armenia, whom I call the “Yerevan Armenians”- lack an understanding or do not want to acknowledge what really happened during those terrible times of WW I. The “ Yerevan ” Armenians, on the other hand, understand too well, and they visit, vacation and work in Turkey now quite happily, and along with the Turks, wish a rapprochement to live as good neighbors once again. We must help them realize that sooner than later, rather than fanning the flames of hatred of the Diaspora Armenians. Wouldn’t be a wonderful thing if they can be freed from that “Life-Lie” that they seem to have embraced, but unfortunately will not be able to fly like the “Wild Duck” of Henrik Ibsen.

One final word: I seem to have been carried away, for which I ask your forgiveness. But I am really looking forward to hearing a positive response (not necessarily on the issue itself) to carry on with this conversation to a mutually agreed conclusion. We can of course, agree to disagree.

When 144 Ottoman dignitaries were interned in Malta "pending charges for organized murders", the British could find NOTHING in the Ottoman Archives or US records for any legal indictment and they quietly released all Ottoman dignitaries, even without an indictment! What makes you think your Lordship, "that you know better" than those who lived the incidents ?

Even Turks no longer deny the facts of the Armenian Genocide, of which there is fresh evidence in the surviving papers of Talaat Pasha, left in the possession of his widow and now published by Ara Sarafian of the Gomidas Press.

When Ara and I went to Ankara to launch his Turkish translation of the Blue Book we were unable to deliver copies to the members of the TGNA, but the Turks no longer have any excuse for their false claim that the Blue Book was nothing but a piece of wartime propaganda. We tried strenuously to engage the members of the TGNA in a dialogue on the subject, but not one of them ever replied to our letters!

Subject: Wartime tragedy that engulfed Muslims and Christian alike; not genocide that only victimized Armenians

Dear Baroness Shreela Flather,

I was shocked and saddened to learn about your question and proposal at the House of Lords on the 16th of June 2011 regarding recognition by the British Government of the so called Armenian Genocide, a racist and dishonest version of history promoted by the Armenian lobby. Your biased approach to the Turkish-Armenian conflict showed a lack of appreciation of the facts surrounding this matter.

Please allow me to explain:

Bias & Bigotry In The Term Armenian Genocide

If one cherishes values like fairness, objectivity, truth, and honesty, then one should really use the term Turkish-Armenian conflict. Asking on Do you accept or deny Armenian Genocide shows anti-Turkish bias. The question should be re-phrased What is your stand on the Turkish-Armenian conflict?

Turks believe it was an inter communal warfare mostly fought by Turkish and Armenian irregulars, a civil war which is engineered, provoked, and waged by the Armenian revolutionaries, with active support from Russia, England, France, and others, all eyeing the vast territories of the collapsing Ottoman Empire, against a backdrop of a raging world war.

Armenians, on the other hand, totally ignoring Armenian agitation, raids, rebellions, treason, territorial demands, and Turkish victims killed by Armenians, unfairly claim that it was a one way genocide.

Genocide Allegations Ignore The Six T's Of The Turkish-Armenian Conflict

While some in unsuspecting public may be forgiven for taking the blatant and ceaseless Armenian propaganda at face value and believing Armenian falsifications merely because they are repeated so often, it is difficult and painful for someone like me, the son of Turkish survivors on both maternal and paternal sides.

Those seemingly endless War years of 1912-1922 brought wide-spread death and destruction on to all Ottoman citizens. No Turkish family was left untouched, mine included. Those nameless, faceless Turkish victims are killed for a second time today with politically motivated and baseless charges of Armenian genocide.

Allegations Of Armenian Genocide Are Racist And Dishonest History

They are racist because they ignore the Turkish dead: more than 3 million during WWI; about half a million of them at the hands of Armenian nationalists.

And the allegations of Armenian genocide are dishonest because they dismiss the six T's of the Turkish-Armenian conflict:

1) TUMULT (as in numerous Armenian armed uprisings between 1882 and 1920)

2) TERRORISM (by well-armed Armenian nationalists and militias victimizing Ottoman-Muslims between 1882-1920)

3) TREASON (Armenians joining the invading enemy armies as early as 1914 and lasting until 1921)

4) TERRITORIAL DEMANDS (where Armenians were a minority, not a majority, attempting to establish Greater Armenia, the would-be first apartheid of the 20th Century with a Christian minority ruling over a Muslim majority )

5) TURKISH SUFFERING AND LOSSES (i.e. those caused by the Armenian nationalists: 524,000 Muslims, mostly Turks, met their tragic end at the hands of Armenian revolutionaries during WWI, per Turkish Historical Society. This figure is not to be confused with about 2.5 million Muslim dead who lost their lives due to non-Armenian causes during WWI. Grand total: more than 3 million, according to Prof. Justin McCarthy.)

6) TERESET (temporary resettlement) triggered by the first five T's above and amply documented as such; not to be equated to the Armenian misrepresentations as genocide.)

Verdict Without Due Process Amounts To Lynching

Those who take the Armenian allegations of genocide at face value ignore the following:

1- Genocide is a legal, technical term precisely defined by the U.N. 1948 convention (Like all proper laws, it is not retroactive to 1915.)

2- Genocide verdict can only be given by a "competent court" after "due process" where both sides are properly represented and evidence mutually cross examined.

3- For a genocide verdict, the accusers must prove intent at a competent court and after due process. This could never be done by the Armenians whose evidence mostly fall into five major categories: hearsay, mis-representations, exaggerations, forgeries, and other.

4- Such a "competent court" was never convened in the case of Turkish-Armenian conflict and a genocide verdict does not exist (save a Kangaroo court in occupied Istanbul in 1920 where partisanship, vendettas, and revenge motives left no room for due process.)

5- Genocide claim--first appeared in 1965, that is, 50 years after the events--is purely political, not historical or factual. It reflects bias against Turks. Therefore, the term genocide must be used with the qualifier "alleged", for scholarly objectivity and truth.

History Is A Matter Of Scholarship, Not Consensus

History is not a matter of "conviction, consensus, political resolutions, political correctness, or propaganda."

History is a matter of research, peer review, thoughtful debate, and honest scholarship.

Even historians, by definition, cannot decide on a genocide verdict, which is reserved for a "competent court" with its legal expertise and due process.

What we witness today amounts to lynching of the Turks by Armenians (and their supporters) to satisfy the age old Armenian hate, bias, and bigotry. Values like fairness, presumption of innocence until proven guilty, objectivity, balance, honesty, and freedom of speech are stumped under the fanatic Armenian feet. Unprovoked , unjustified, and unfair defamation of Turkey, one of NATO's strongest members and a reliable ally of the West since the end of WWII in the troubled Middle East, in order to appease some nagging Armenian activists runs counter to Western interests.

Those who claim genocide verdict today, based on the much discredited Armenian evidence, are actually engaging in "conviction and execution without due process". Last time I looked in the dictionary, that was the definition of lynching.

Isn't it time to stop fighting the First World War dishonestly and give peace a real chance?

Dear Baroness Shreela Flather,

The Ataturk Society of the UK has been astonished and dismayed to learn about your question and proposal regarding a possible timetable for the British Government to recognize the so called Armenian Genocide at the House of Lords on the 16th of June 2011. Whilst we appreciate your right to ask questions as a member of the House of Lords (not as an elected representative), we would like to bring the following facts to your attention regarding this matter.

First of all can we remind you that there is no legal justification for such a recognition unlike the Holocaust or Bosnian massacres.

As a historical event, it is a fact that Suzanne and Gregoire Krikorian took their case to the European Court of Justice in 2003 in reference to the so called Armenian genocide, and demanded moral and material compensation. However, they lost this court case on the 17th December 2003 and were ordered to pay the court expenses of 30,000 Euro for unfounded charges.

This issue began with the passing of an ill conceived resolution C-190 of the European Parliament on 20th July 1987 that Turkey cannot become a member of EEC unless she recognizes the so called Armenian Genocide!

Twelve years later, in 1999, Turkish Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit was negotiating with the EEC regarding Turkish candidacy and when the discussions were strained, the Turkish P.M. was invited to Helsinki talks. The Helsinki European Council decision was to officially invite Turkey into the E.U. Since than Turkey has been a candidate member and has many agreements with the EU, going back to 1963 Ankara Association Agreement).

This invitation obviously did not go the way the Armenian Diaspora wanted and they opened a court case against:

The European Parliament
The European Union Association Council
The European Commission

at the European Court of Justice, with reference to the European Parliament's resolution no. C-190, demanding that Turkey acknowledges so called Armenian Genocide before being offered membership status, otherwise EU's contractual status would be impaired and therefore insisting on “Responsibility from the European Union outside of its commitments and without any judicial justification.

We would like to remind you that this court case was rejected by the First Division of the European Court of Justice on December 17, 2003 under decision number T-346/03, confirming that there is no legally accepted justification for so called Armenian genocide.

Still unsatisfied the Armenian Diaspora applied to the Court of Appeals for the repeal of the referred decision. This application was heard by the Fourth Division of the European Court of Justice at the session dated 17.04.2004. It was rejected again under the clause No. C-18/04 and the Armenians were charged to pay the court expenses of 30,000 Euros.

Dear Baroness Flather, we would like to ask you to reconsider your question to the House of Lords in the light of the evidence presented above and before taking a stance against the decisions of the European Court of Justice which is an authorised Court set up to deal with these kind of cases and is officially recognized by the UK Parliament.

Turkish people have a right to request that you re-address the House of Lords regarding your question and put right the inaccuracies or injustices done to the Turkish Nation. We consider your action as biased and prejudiced, and also lacking in informed knowledge and the right facts of the matter.

Clause 25.

Secondly, as regards the requirement that the applicants must have suffered actual and certain damage, the applicants clearly confined themselves in their application to relying in general terms on non-material damage caused to the Armenian community, without giving the least indication as to the nature or extent of the damage which they consider they had suffered individually. Therefore the applicants have supplied no information that would enable the Court to find that the applicants in fact suffered actual and certain damage themselves (see, to that effect, Case T-99/98 Hameico Stuttgart and Others v Council and Commission [2003] ECR II-2195, paragraphs 68 and 69).

Clause 21.
As regards the alleged breach of fundamental rights (see paragraph 10 above), it is sufficient to note that the applicants merely claim that such a breach took place, without explaining how that follows from the conduct of the defendant institutions complained of in this case.

The 25th Anniversary of the Ellis Island Medals Of Honor Gala will feature this year someone we all know well: ERGUN KIRLIKOVALI, President-Elect, The Assembly of Turkish American Associations, Washington DC, USA, www.ataa.org . Legendary entertainer Jerry Lewis will join other Ellis Island Medals Of Honor recipients at a pre-gala media reception at the Ritz Carlton New York, Battery Park, on Saturday, May 7. at 4:00 pm.

We thought we would ask for our readers a few questions to Mr. Kirlikovali about this momentous event. .

Who is hosting this event?

The National Ethnic Coalition (NECO) which will also present The 25th Anniversary of the Ellis Island Medals Of Honor on Saturday, May 7, at 6:30 pm, on Ellis Island, to leaders of entertainment, business, government, military, education, sports, media, healthcare, and industry. NECO was created in 1984 on the conviction of its founders that the diversity of the American people is what makes America great.

What is NECO’s Mission?

To honor diverse American past, advocate for positive change in the present, and build strong leaders for the future. NECO promotes unity through diversity by investing in the Power of Caring. NECO is a non profit 501(c)(3) organization, in partnerships with other humanitarian causes, like Gift of Life International (GLI), Children In Need Institute (CINI), The Ellis Island Immigration Museum (EIIM), and others: www.neco.org .

What is the purpose of the ceremony?

The ceremony pays tribute to American citizens of diverse ethnic origins whose influence and achievements inspire and touch the lives of people everywhere. Correspondent Marvin Scott and renowned entertainer Tom Dreesen will be the Masters of Ceremony. Each year since 1986, NECO has honored America’s diverse past by sponsoring the Ellis Island Medals of Honor. The Ellis Island Medals of Honor annually pays tribute to the ancestry groups that comprise America’s unique cultural mosaic. The Medals are presented on Ellis Island, in a dramatic ceremony, to American citizens of diverse origins for their outstanding contributions to their communities, their nation and the world.

Who are some of the past Ellis Island Medal of Honor recipients?

The list would include six Presidents of the United States, Nobel Prize winners, athletes, leaders of industry, artists and others whose work has made a lasting impact on humanity. They are awarded annually to outstanding American citizens, from all walks of life, who have distinguished themselves through their significant contributions to this country. Can we get to know you a little bit better?

Sure. I was born in Izmir in 1952 and attended primary and secondary schools there. I took the entrance exams for Robert Academy, Istanbul, and completed my high school education there. I later attended Bogazici University, Chemistry Department, and received my BS in Chemistry. I continued my postgraduate studies at the University of Manchester, UK, Polymer Science department. I conducted research on polymers in Austria and Holland. After performing my military service as a reserve officer at the Turkish Navy, I worked in the chemical industry in Turkey for a year before moving to the United States. I worked for various polymer companies in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York, prior to starting my own company in 1985, developing and manufacturing new polymeric materials for demanding aerospace applications. I am married and have one son. We live in Southern California.

What about your involvement in your community and heritage?

I have been active with Turkish-American community since the day I set foot in America. The very day I arrived at the United Sates, for instance, I had a label on a bread brand at a supermarket chain in San Francisco removed after complaining to the manager. The label had been placed there by its Armenian baker and it was racist in content and tone and it unfairly defamed Turkey. The bread brand stayed but the obscene label did not. This is how American greeted me. Would I be checking in future every label on every consumer item, like milk, candy bar, potato chips, etc.? To what kind of a place did I come? Needless to say, I was alarmed by this episode.

Thus was kicked off my 34 years of struggle against defamation and disinformation, culminating in my recently being elected to the nationwide office of ATAA presidency for the 2011-2013 term.

Before that, I was the president of ATASC (1982, Los Angeles,) founder of the Public Relations committee at FTAA and its first chairman (1984, New York,) the West Coast Regional Director for FTAA (1985 to 2005,) and the VP for West Coast for ATAA (2005-2006.)

I wrote more than 5,000 letters to global media in the past three decades to set the record straight and got published in many countries. I also appeared in radio and TV programs, academic panels, and other events involving Turkish culture, history, and heritage. Although I am not working or volunteering to receive awards, I am the recipient of many professional, community, international, media, and civic awards.

What are your goals ?

I believe Turkish culture and history are little known and mostly misunderstood by the American public, mainly due to the incessant and deliberate misrepresentations by well financed, ill-willed, anti-Turkish lobbies. Therefore, I want to see a vibrant, influential, and much respected Turkish-American community that speaks up loud and clear when misrepresented, attacked, defamed, intimidated, harassed, censored, and/or otherwise maltreated.

I believe the biggest Turkish assets are the truth as well as the honesty, warmth, friendliness, and hospitality of the Turkish people. I believe that with so many outrageous lies and deceptions designed to defame Turkish culture and heritage, fielded daily by the many anti-Turkish lobbies, the Turkish-American community is destined to win in the end, just by continuing to be who they are- the nicest people anywhere in the world.

What are your hobbies?

I love watching, learning, and performing international folk dances. Among my other hobbies are world travel and archeology. I am avid reader in history, philosophy, sociology, and international relations .

3220) Armenia: Racism & Intolerance Report By European Commission Feb 2011

CoE Racism & Intolerance Report Cites Concerns in Armenia

On February 8, the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) published a new report on Armenia saying that while improvements have been made, there are still some concerns in the area of religious freedom and refugees’ social rights . . .

The report says that while there is no hostility vis-à-vis ethnic minorities and non-nationals, there are obvious dangers of intolerance in the field of religious freedom. The involvement of the National Security Service in this area is difficult to justify. The alternative service is too long

The ECRI is the Council of Europe’s independent human rights monitoring body specialized in combating racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, anti-Semitism and intolerance. It consists of 47 experts, one from every CoE member state.
Plans to make the law on freedom of conscience and religious organizations more restrictive should be abandoned. The anti-discrimination legislation needs strengthening and the budget of the Human Rights Defender’s Office is insufficient. There should be an independent mechanism for dealing with complaints against the police.

In its report, ECRI makes a number of recommendations, among which the following three will be revisited in two years’ time: Reduce the length of alternative service by six months; Change the system for the distribution of grants to ethnic minorities; Re-house all refugee families living in non-renovated accommodation in the Nor-Nork centre

Racism Overtly Practiced By The Armenians

Please allow me to present to you the views of some Armenian leaders and writers, which you will, no doubt, find gravely offensive, virulent, and blatantly racist.

Please note that these quotations are not from ordinary Armenians, therefore, cannot be readily dismissed as hapless repartee by some ignorant or extremist Armenians.

The bigoted Armenian leaders who wrote these horrible comments were unfortunately the same ones who influenced, formulated, manipulated, and/or dictated Armenian policies before, during, and after the WWI.

"?They (The Turks) have assimilated the blood of slaves from east and west, north and south. Originally Mongolian, they are now partly Negroid, Semitic, and in lesser degree Aryan.... It would be interesting to have a competent ethnologic and genetic study made of the effect of polygamy and of such unparalleled miscegenation upon the vitality of the people...the Turk today is, according to unanimous testimony, inferior in mental equipment and sustained energy to the native Christians and Jews."

To which the Armenian editor added his own ingenious analysis as a footnote :

"The Turks of Turkey are basically of the most primitive and backward branch of the Mongolian race.... Of this blending of the primitive, the savage, the stupidly brutal and atavistic products is composed the Turk of today. The retention by him of his primordial traits is explained by the Mendelian Law,..."

You can now understand what the Ottoman government was really up against: a bunch of vicious, racist, treasonous, well-armed, and well-motivated back stabbers who did not hesitate to kill unprotected women and children of Turkish villages -- as all the able bodied Turkish men were sent to many distant fronts to defend the country against the invaders.

Consequently, over half a million Muslims, mostly Turks, ruthlessly met their tragic end during the WWI at the hands of these Armenian nationalists.

Today, we witness the same kind of arrogant and racist attitude in the writings of many Armenians, their extensions in the media, and their recent inventions and new tools, the so-called genocide scholars.

To these Armenian writers, the bona fide cases of genocide around the world do not exist; only the bogus genocide claims of the Armenians do. They only pay a brief lip service to the genocides in Cambodia, Bosnia, and Rwanda, and devote the rest of their writings to the Armenian-Turkish civil war which they unfairly, incorrectly, but deliberately misrepresent as genocide.

To these people, Armenian armed uprisings and treason are not important. The facts that the Armenians had standing armies of 150,000 men and that they were belligerents are to be ignored.

Also to be dismissed are the rights of the Turks to defend themselves and their country in face of foreign invasion supported by some disloyal citizens. Well, what's left to consider?

How else can any one explain the tragic ending of the millennium of harmonious Turkish-Armenian cohabitation in Anatolia?

If Armenians didn't take up arms against their own government, didn't side with the invading Russian armies, didn't massacre Turks, Kurds, Circassioan, Arabs, and Jews , didn't undermine the Ottoman war effort; they would still be in Anatolia today, like they have been for a millennium before 1915? It is that plain and simple?

As the prominent historian, Justin McCarthy once said, any civil war, including the American civil war, can be made to look like a genocide if one ignores the other side.

Armenians always dismiss their own terrorism, armed uprisings, atrocities, betrayals, and treason; misrepresent wartime measures taken by Turks in self defense; exaggerate Armenian suffering and losses; and totally ignore the Turkish suffering and losses many times larger than the Armenians'.

How long can this ethocidal Armenian campaign continue to depict the vicious Armenian terrorists and nationalists in the Ottoman-Armenian community as "poor, starving Armenians"?

How can "poor, starving Armenians" raise a standing army of 150,000 men, slaughtering defenseless Turkish women and children in Eastern Anatolia and elsewhere?

3198) Letters To The Ealing Council, Ref: Allegation Of “Armenian Genocide”

Madam/Sir,
The Ealing council accepted, the last month, the allegation of “Armenian genocide”. In a democracy, history is not written by political institutions but by historians. The Blois appeal (2008), signed by several hundreds of historians, from Europe, North America, and elsewhere, says:

“History must not be a slave to contemporary politics nor can it be written on the command of competing memories. In a free state, no political authority has the right to define historical truth and to restrain the freedom of the historian with the threat of penal sanctions.”. . .

Chief Executive Martin Smith seemed to share this view in an e-mail to Betula Nelson, in April 2010:

“The council is conscious that, while there is agreement that large numbers of people were tragically killed in appalling circumstances, there is a difference of opinion on whether this amounted to genocide. The council does not have an official position on this. We do not endorse the views of Armenians, but respect their right to express one.”

How the Ealing council could contradict itself during the same year?

This self-contradiction is especially disturbing, since it is an example of double standard on war crimes, based on the religion or ethnicity of the victims and perpetrators; and, at least in practice, a reward to terrorism.

Dear Honorable Councillor Julian Bell,

It is difficult and painful for me, the son of Turkish survivors on both maternal and paternal sides, to hear of Ealing Council’s unfortunate resolution, based on an Armenian’s misrepresentations—i.e. Councillor Iskendarian—where Armenian war crimes, Armenian hate crimes, and their Muslim, mostly Turkish, victims, are curiously missing. If one excludes half the story, well, even the American civil war can be made to look like a genocide.

I realize that this was not a unanimous decision and that some prudent members considered the motion tabled by an Armenian (Cllr Iskanderian) one sided, without input from responsible opposing views and hence, judged it ill-advised and divisive. I am also aware of at least one councillor saying “…I have never come across a motion in my nine years on the council that so blatantly sought to pitch one community against another - especially on a subject which is highly sensitive and where no member of the council is really able to make a proper and considered judgment…” I truly appreciate those members who thought that way, but I wish they took the trouble to stay on and vote no so that this blatant and malicious fraud could be thwarted.

In summary, if I could manage to raise a grain of doubt in your mind that the Armenian narrative may not be the whole story and that there might be another side, equally ghastly and genuine, where Armenians are the victimizers not the victims, then I consider my mission is accomplished.
